The PG-II year begins with a three-month rotation on the Winchester-One inpatient child psychiatry unit. This clinical skills year continues with a one-month rotation devoted to adolescent addictions, and a 3-month child psychiatry clinic with a mixture of the CASE rotation (devoted to research of the resident’s choosing), the IICAPS (Intensive In-home Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services) rotation, and exposure to the School Consults outreach program. Following this, residents spend the rest of the PGY-II year focusing on adult psychiatry with a three-month Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit rotation, and two months at the VA Hospital (one-month of the Consult-Liaison Service, and one month of Emergency Psychiatry). The PG-II year is thus similar to the PG-II year that Yale Adult Psychiatry Residents complete. The PG-II year also continues the development of the resident’s research interests through weekly research seminars. Residents may also investigate the opportunity to pursue an additional degree (M.P.H., Ph.D., etc.) during their residency training; a decision to pursue additional degrees should be reached by December of the PGY-II year.
