Coordinated Intervention for Women and Infants (CIWI) offers intensive in-home clinical and case management services to families affected by substance abuse. The overarching goal of CIWI is to promote stability, safety and permanence for children at high risk of poor developmental outcomes, removal from their families and/or abandonment due to maternal substance abuse. CIWI is a voluntary program open to women who are pregnant or have a child less than one year of age and have current or recent histories of substance abuse. Services are child focused and intended to assist families to understand and meet the needs of the infants and their older siblings. In addition, CIWI staff monitors the infant’s development and assist the family in connecting with appropriate community agencies to address any identified needs of the infant and/or their siblings.
