Assistant Clinical Professor of Child Psychiatry

Research Interests

Dr. Nikolov’s clinical activities at the Child Study Center include psychiatric consultation and psychopharmacology services provided to the Court Support Services Division of Connecticut Superior Court Juvenile Matters. He is also an Attending Physician at Yale New Haven Hospital and in collaboration with other Child Study Center faculty members provides consultation to the pediatricians and patients/families of Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. In addition to his Yale practice, Dr. Nikolov is the Medical Director of the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut Inc. in Stamford, and has a busy psychiatric practice in Stamford, Connecticut.

Dr. Nikolov’s medical education activities include teaching rounds in the Childrens Hospital with medical students, child psychiatry and developmental pediatrics trainees, supervision of child psychiatry and social work trainees, tutoring of medical students and educational presentations to house staff and trainees.

Dr. Nikolov’s research interests include psychopharmacological treatments for symptoms complicating the care of children with developmental disabilities. More recently his research has focused on gastrointestinal symptoms and their relevance to functional status in autism.
