Intensive In-Home Child and Adolescent Reintegration Service (IICARS)

IICARS is a home based service program focused on assisting children and youth who have been in residential care to transition from a highly structured residential setting to a family or foster home. The aims of IICARS are to stabilize child and family functioning, promote the conditions for positive growth and development and facilitate healthy integration within the community.

The IICARS approach to service delivery is comprehensive and includes psychiatric, medical, vocational, recreational, educational, supportive and family based approaches. All cases referred to IICARS are by the Department of Children and Families. Services are provided by a master’s level clinician, bachelor-prepared mental health counselor, psychiatrist and psychiatric nurse practitioner, with overlapping roles and cross coverage capacity to promote continuity of care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The team focuses on assisting the child and family to identify strengths and vulnerabilities in the areas of individual client, family, school and community and utilize them to develop a comprehensive plan of treatment with goals focused on reintegrating the child into the home and community. Certain cases are treated through a collaborative partnership with Casey Family Services.
